Do smoking and vaping have a different high?

There are many different ways how to consume weed and hash. The most common - at least at our coffeeshop - are smoking, vaping and edibles. But is there actually a difference between smoking and vaping when it comes to the effect?

Before we explain the difference between smoking and vaping, let’s take a look at the effect of both smoking and vaping cannabis.

Effect of smoking cannabis

Smoking cannabis is still one of the most popular ways to get high. Many people mix weed or hash with tobacco to make it a little less strong, but some people naturally like a stronger joint and go for pure.

Lighting the joint burns THC and CBD. The smoke from this is immediately absorbed by your lungs and you are then high almost immediately.

Vaping

The vaping of weed is gaining popularity in recent years. Vaping involves vaporising the cannabis instead of burning it like smoking does. But as with smoking, the vapour is absorbed into the lungs and you soon feel the effect.

Difference between smoking and vaping

In both smoking and vaping, the smoke or vapour is absorbed by the lungs. But is the effect the same? Not quite. Many people experience - although this differs per person - vaping as softer or less intense. This may be because vaping is easier to dose, contains fewer harmful substances and the release of THC is more gradual.
